Great British High Street Awards - Dornoch Shortlisted
Posted on
We are proud of our association with Dornoch with our new homes on our Deans Park development and delighted the town is the only Scottish finalist in the 2016 Great British High Street Awards in their 'Rising Star' category.
Dornoch has been shortlisted due to various initiatives over the last three years of community, business, private and public partnership to attract more visitors to this popular Highland village, and to ensure a warm welcome once there.
The aim is to encourage longer stays in Dornoch, especially out of season, by promoting events and activities through the new Visitor Centre, on social media and via visitdornoch.com.
Visitor numbers recorded at the Visitor Centre from February to September 2016 are up 30% compared to 2015.
Out of 42 finalists over 14 categories, Dornoch is the only Scottish entry in the awards, up against Leominster (pop. 41,000) and Stockton-on-Tees (pop. 192,000) In the Rising Star category. The winner will be decided by voting and a judges' visit (50% each). To allow smaller places a chance to drive up the votes, everyone can vote once per day until 18th November, and anyone with an interest in Dornoch is encouraged to take part and cast your vote at www.thegreatbritishhighstreet.co.uk/finalist-rising-star .
